Commuters are facing traffic chaos on the motorway after two separate incidents.

The M2 London-bound is partially blocked with queueing traffic after a three-vehicle crash at around 7.30am this morning, just after Junction 5 for the A249 near Sittingbourne and the Stockbury Roundabout.

The south-bound carriageway of the A249 is also blocked with motorists queueing because of a broken down lorry after Junction 5 for the M25, also near Sittingbourne at the Stockbury Roundabout.

Drivers between Sittingbourne and Maidstone are being warned to expect disruption.

Police spokesman Martin Very said: "Kent Police was called at around 7.30am on Wednesday, December 1, regarding a collision on the London-bound carriageway of the M2 between junctions 5 and 4.

"Officers and Highways officers are currently at the scene where one of the drivers is reporting a back injury. The vehicles are on the hard shoulder."
