End in sight for Sittingbourne's sponsored-wedding couple

Stacy Burnett and her partner Daniel Webb are looking for people to sponsor their wedding.

Here comes the bride. A cash-strapped couple hope to get hitched this October after they appealed for businesses to sponsor their big day.

Stacy Burnett, 29, and Daniel Webb, 28, received numerous offers from companies after the News Extra carried the story about their unusual approach to planning their wedding.

As a result they now plan to hold their reception at the Coniston Hotel, London Road, Sittingbourne, while the wedding rings will be made by Bella Diamonds in London.

Both will be provided free of charge. In return the firms will be mentioned in the wedding invites.

Business cards will also be left out for guests to pick up. The mum-of-one already has her wedding dress and two bridesmaids’ outfits.

They were bought by the pair, who have been together two years, in anticipation of booking their nuptials this year.

But the rising cost of getting hitched meant they had to put their plans on hold.

They even moved into Stacy’s parents’ home in Barrow Grove, Sittingbourne, to save money.

Others that came forward following the appeal include: Celebration Chair Covers, Maidstone, Sugar Darling Cakes, Thanet, Discologic, Chatham, and All Kent Wedding Cars, Sittingbourne.

West Malling-based wedding planner Julie Finlay also offered her services.

Miss Burnett said: “There are a few things we will have to pay for such as the fee to get married at Bobbing church, the hiring of suits, hair and make-up, one page boy’s outfit and two flower girl’s outfits.

“We’ve also bought some invitations off the internet which we will send out ourselves.

“But the biggest cost which was the venue has now been taken care of thanks to the Coniston.

“As soon as we pin down a date we will speak to the other companies who offered to help as they said they can’t commit to anything until they know what day we’re getting married.

“It’s all starting to feel very real now, but in a good way of course.”
