A family-run furnishing business is to open a new showroom in the town next month as a result of a £2 million expansion.

Lukehurst is moving from its base in the Sittingbourne Retail Park to a larger store in Mill Way.

It is converting the former D & A Toys unit with the aim of creating a bright and modern shop that will be a third bigger than its former site.

Lukehurst has been in the town since 1983 when it opened as a High Street store. It later moved to the retail park in 2010.

The company, which employs around 30 people, will also launch an interactive website to enable customers to order online.

“We are always looking to re-invest and move forward. With all the development that’s taking place in Sittingbourne, we are determined to continue to play a major part in the area and offer customers a great experience.”

The store, behind the retail park, is due to open on Thursday, October 15.
