Husband and wife David and Moya Taylor love music festivals so much they are staging their own.
The couple from Stockbury are transforming their normally sleepy village into a mini-Glastonbury.
Kent’s newest three-day Chickenstock festival - the pair kept hens before a fox got to them - already has 20 bands booked but is on the lookout for 17 new acts to play for free.
Mum-of-three Moya said: “We love attending all types of festivals and had a dream to put on our own.”
To celebrate David’s 50th birthday they booked a band and staged their first private one in their back garden. That was seven years ago.
Moya, who works in hospital finance, said: “Since then, it has just grown.”
Last year the pair opened it to 250 members of the public and this year they are taking over a neighbour’s paddock.
The three headline acts, all from Kent, will be The Lowly Strung, Green Diesel and Bamboozle with support from Sheppey singer Will Whisson, Sally Ironmonger and Brian Carter, Swinging The Lead and Dave Sharp from The Alarm.
This year there will be a second stage in the beer tent where local bands can showcase original music to an audience of almost 500 and maybe get spotted for next year’s main stage.
It will have a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, so under-18s can come for free with adults.
Their son Owen, 23, uses a wheelchair so the couple are ensuring the festival, over the weekend of July 19 to 21, is as accessible as possible.
The pair are supporting local businesses and charities, including Sittingbourne Scouts. Weekend adult tickets are £50, click here, to apply for a spot email chickenstockfestivaluk@gmail.com
