A popular pub is set to be back up and running with the return of its former licensees.

There has been confusion over what was happening with the Tudor Rose in Borden near Sittingbourne after it re-opened after several months before closing again.

It was taken over by Nikki Richens and Mark Godfrey at the end of March.

It was then closed until the end of August while refurbishment work was carried out.

But the couple, who were there as temporary licensees, have now left the historic hostelry.

Pub owners Shepherd Neame says they will be replaced by Stuart George and his partner Kelly Tompkins.

They previously ran the Tudor Rose from 2011 to 2021 and have been at the Dover Castle in Teynham since 2017.

A brewery spokesman confirm the couple will run both pubs at the same time.

They hope to have the Tudor Rose opened "as soon as possible".

The pub, which dates back to 1750, is in Chesnut Street near the A249 and Key Street roundabout.

Regulars have taken to social media in recent days to ask what was happening with the venue.

One person said they'd arrived for a booking, only to discover the building closed-up.
