More than 600 parents and prospective students attended this year’s open day at Sittingbourne Community College.

Students played a large part on the day with student ambassador guides taking visitors on a tour of the facilities and sharing their experiences of the specialist art college.

As part of the day guests were not only invited to view facilities but also take part in exciting, interactive workshops and performances.

These included live drama rehearsals for the upcoming show the Wizard of Oz, dance and music workshops and demonstrations, printing activities within art and a French Cafe in modern foreign languages.

In addition prospective students were able to view their peers work and see what they would be able to undertake if they joined the college in the future.

Alan Barham, head teacher at the college, said: “The amount of interest shown from prospective students and their parents was incredible and the comments and feedback we received were all very positive.

"It is nice to see more and more people acknowledging the college as a special and unique school, with outstandingly committed staff and wonderful students.”

Cat Taylor, leader of the arts, said: “The staff and students certainly demonstrated to the public the special atmosphere that we are known for.”

Thanks to the great response from the visiting parents and pupils, many private tours have been arranged for the next few weeks.
