Kent police arrest four Bangladeshis at address in West Street, Sittingbourne, on suspicion of immigration offences

Four Bangladeshis suspected of being in the country illegally were arrested by police on Sunday morning.

Officers swooped on a Sittingbourne address following reports of a disturbance.

Home Office immigration officials were later informed about the situation.

A spokesman said: “[We] were contacted by Kent police at about 12.30pm on Sunday, November 9, after police attended an incident in West Street. Officers arrested four Bangladeshi men on suspicion of immigration offences.

“Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers attended custody to carry out checks.

“Two of the men were subsequently released without further action. The remaining two men are in immigration detention while steps are taken to remove them from the UK.”
