A fly-tipper has received a hefty fine after dumping debris and loft insulation down a country lane.
Building waste, loft insulation, cardboard and black sacks of household rubbish were found dumped in Provender Lane, Norton in June 2017.
Among the rubble was evidence which council workers used to trace the rubbish back to an address.
A resident at the address told workers who had removed her waste, which led Swale Borough Council to 68-year-old William Jones.
Jones, of Meads Avenue, Quinton, admitted to fly-tipping when he appeared at Maidstone Magistrates Court last week.
He was ordered to pay costs of £1,000 on top of a £330 fine and a victim surcharge of £33.
Cllr David Simmons, Swale Borough Council cabinet member for the environment said: "We are resolute in doing everything in our power to pursue those who fly-tip in Swale, and take the necessary legal action against them. Residents should not have to see other people’s rubbish being left around Swale and by cracking down hard on perpetrators, we are delivering a cleaner environment for our residents.
In addition, I would like to thank the householder who co-operated. Everyone has a duty of care to make sure they know who takes their waste away and they should check that they have the appropriate license to do so.
