A Kent village will be taken over by scarecrows of all shapes and sizes this Halloween.

Lower Halstow, in Sittingbourne, will be home to the popular Scarecrow Trail this October half term.

Arranged by the Lower Halstow School PTA, 2022 will be the third trail and the village hopes to draw people in from far and wide.

Running throughout the school break, the trail opens at 3pm on Friday, October 21, and closes at 4pm on Sunday, October 30.

A spokesman for the PTA said: "The trail began in 2020, when we were looking for a Covid-friendly event to run.

"Like most organisations, the pandemic had hit our fundraising hard which meant that we didn’t have the funds to help the school.

"When the head teacher suggested the scarecrow event, we thought we would give it a go and were thrilled at how the village got behind the idea.

"The creativity, skill and attention to detail they showed blew us all away!"

The family friendly event is free for all and enables anyone walking the trail to see all kinds of home made scarecrows.

However, a small online donation is able to be made if you enjoyed the event - of which all money raised will go towards enhancing the education of the children at Lower Halstow School.

After you walk the trail you can also vote for your favourite scarecrow through the Facebook page here.
