Part of the M2 was closed after a car crashed, left the motorway and caught on fire, but has now reopened.
The coastbound carriageway between junction 5 for Sittingbourne and junction 6 for Faversham was affected after emergency services received the call at around 10.40am.
A woman broke her leg in the accident.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended, with three fire engines, two ambulances and two ambulance cars being sent.
An ambulance spokesman said: "A car left the road and caught fire and a 24-year-old woman and three-year-old child were removed from the vehicle.
"The woman suffered a broken leg and both she and the child were taken to the William Harvey Hospital for further treatment/assessment.
A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman added: "Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the blaze."
Highways England was reporting another accident on the opposite side between the same two junctions.
