Latest burglaries from across the Sittingbourne area

A teenager will face court in connection with a Sittingbourne burglary.

The 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged on July 2 in relation to a break-in at an address in Murston Road, Murston, overnight on June 7.

It is alleged someone broke into the property and stole a handbag. A quantity of cash was then withdrawn using bank cards contained inside a money holder less than an hour later.

The Faversham youth has been released on bail and is due to appear at court on July 29.

For the last 20 months, 645 burglaries and attempted break-ins in and around the town have been brought to this paper’s attention.

The latest incidents are as follows: Two homes in Thistle Walk, Murston, broken into. The first incident happened on July 5 between 4am and 4.20am.

More than £150 in cash and a silver Armani watch to the value of £250 was taken – XY/023722/14. The second happened on June 22 between midnight and 4am during which an iPad, a motorcycle crash helmet worth £550 and an iPhone were stolen – XY/022100/14.

A Stihl two-stroke strimmer stolen during a shed burglary at Gore Court Cricket Club, Key Street, Sittingbourne, between June 29-30 – XY/023211/14.

There was an attempted break-in at a house in St Paul’s Street, Milton Regis, at 9.40am on Friday, July 4. The householder gave chase but lost sight of the intruder – XY/023635/14.

Sittingbourne has been hit by a spate of burglaries

A domestic garage was broken into at Foxgrove, Milton Regis, between July 4-5 – XY/023816/14.

Between 6.50pm and 9.05pm on Friday, July 4, someone attempted to break into Murston Junior School, Sunny Bank, Murston – XY/023730/14.

There was a burglary at Holywell Farm, Holywell Lane, Upchurch, between July 1-2 – XY/023501/14.

A gas barbecue, an artificial Christmas tree, and a holdall containing several plastic balls were stolen from outbuildings in Holywell Primary School, Forge Lane, Upchurch, between July 1-2 – XY/023509/14.

Red diesel was stolen from a barn on Susans Lane, Upchurch, between July 1-2 – XY/023511/14.

Power tools were snatched from an outbuilding at a property in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, at 11.35pm on July 1 – XY/023331/14.
