Clothing chain M&Co is closing down all of its 170 stores across the country, leading to nearly 2,000 job losses.

The retailer, which has stores in Sittingbourne, Whitstable and Deal, will shut it's doors for the final time at Easter after falling into administration in December last year.

In a statement on social media the company said; "Unfortunately, we haven't received the news we would have hoped for during our administration period.

"As we haven't received any funded, deliverable offers that would result in the transfer of the Company's stores or staff to a potential buyer, this means that all our stores will close.

“The M&Co ‘brand’ has been purchased, but unfortunately this does not include a future for our stores, website or staff.”

It sells clothing for all ages, as well as homewear.

M&Co has struggled previously, last collapsing in 2020. However, assets were quickly bought back by the family who own the company.
