Drivers faced long delays following a crash involving a car and a lorry on the M2.

Traffic stretched back for miles following the collision, which happened on the London-bound side near junction 5 for Sittingbourne and Maidstone just before 8am.

Both lanes were blocked while emergency services dealt with the incident, but reopened just before 9am.

At one point, traffic stretched back as far as junction 6 for Faversham, with motorists facing delays of 90 minutes.

The tailbacks had cleared by 10am.

No one was injured and no arrests were made.
