Sittingbourne man charged with assault after police attacked at Medway Police station

A man has been charged after three police workers were attacked at a police station.

Edward Midgley was arrested on Wednesday after reports he had assaulted a woman, who is known to him, in Sittingbourne.

The 32-year-old was taken to Medway Police station in Purser Way, Gillingham, where he is alleged to have assaulted a police sergeant, constable and designated detention officer.

Midgley, of Capel Road, Sittingbourne, was charged with assault and three counts of assaulting an emergency services worker.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
