Miles of queues on London-bound M2 after crash near Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone

There were long tailbacks on the M2 this evening after a crash.

The accident happened on the London-bound carriageway just after Junction 5 for Sittingbourne, Sheppey and Maidstone.

Reports suggested up to four vehicles were involved.

One witness reported seeing two lorries at the front of the queues, with a car in the middle of the motorway.

As of 8.15pm, all lanes has reopened.

There were also problems on the Maidstone-bound A249 after an accident just south of Junction 5 for the M2 at Stockbury Roundabout.

It is understood that three vehicles were involved in a collision, near the Hucking turn-off.
