An empty shop window is to be transformed into a raging fire scene in a bid to raise safety awareness.
The display of firefighters tackling a blaze will be in the Forum Shopping Centre as of Monday, December 13.
It is designed to catch the public’s eye before pointing them in the direction of important safety tips written in both English and Polish to communicate with the growing Eastern European section of the community.
The display which cost less than £200 and was created by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS), has already been used in an empty shop in Sheerness (pictured) and proved a useful tool to highlight the Service’s Home Safety Visits.
KFRS partnership manager Samantha Jones said: "We always planned to repeat this campaign in other parts of the county and we are delighted that business owners, partner agencies and members of the public are supporting it. The shop window is being given free of charge so this allows value for money from the project and proves it is not a one hit wonder."
Jill Read, Swale council's regeneration projects officer, said: "I welcome this initiative which highlights an important community safety awareness message, whilst reducing the perception of the empty shop."
