A woman killed in a horror car crash near Sittingbourne has been named locally as young mum Margaret Mcdonagh.

Friends and family have paid tribute to Margaret, who was aged in her 20s, describing her as a "beautiful angel".

The much-loved mum is understood to have died after her car left Yelsted Road and collided with the embankment yesterday afternoon.

A child who was passenger in the car at the time was injured, and taken to hospital for treatment.

Friends have taken to social media to express their heartbreak.

One woman wrote: "Rip Margaret. [A] young woman's family left behind. So sorry for your family loss. Such a cruel world."

"RIP beautiful angel," wrote another. "Heart breaking, so sorry for the family's loss."

Witnesses are being urged to come forward after the tragic crash which happened on Yelsted Road, near its junction with Yelsted Lane, at about 1.20pm yesterday.

Miss Mcdonagh is thought to have been driving a silver Kia Sorrento in the direction of Sittingbourne, when it left the road and collided with the embankment.

The injuries sustained by the child passenger are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and would now like to hear from witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage of the vehicle in the moments leading up to the incident.
