DETECTIVES have renewed their appeal for information about an assault by three thugs on a 17-year-old boy.

The victim has told police that at about 7.20pm on Tuesday, November 28, he received a phone call from a friend which led him to an alleyway on Gazehill Avenue, Sittingbourne.

Three young men assaulted him there, causing a swollen and cut lip, a lump on his forehead and bruising to his face and ribcage. A member of the public intervened, at which point the three men fled.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this assault, particularly the member of the public who came to the aid of the boy who lives in Sittingbourne.

Det Sgt Joanne Gurden, who is investigating the incident, said: "Over a month has gone by since this assault. We are now hoping to jog people’s memories and ask for anyone to come forward who might have been on Gazehill Avenue at the time of the attack and help us identify those responsible."

Anyone with any information they feel could help the enquiry is asked to contact DS Gurden at Sittingbourne Police Station on 01795 419186 or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 – this call is free and confidential.
