A nursery closed by inspectors after being rated 'inadequate' is set to reopen.

Officers from education watchdog Ofsted suspended the registration of Evolution Kids Club and Nursery, which is in the grounds of Grove Park Primary School, Sittingbourne.

It shut on Thursday, October 10, after the 'inadequate' inspection report was published following a visit in September.

A Welfare Requirements Notice was issued by Ofsted forcing the nursery to make sure policies were in place to vet new staff, make records more accessible, support staff to improve teaching quality, and appoint someone to focus on children's individual needs.

It was later also told to make sure there were enough employees trained in paediatric first-aid.

Inspector Sarah Stephens wrote to parents to announce the service could be closed for up to six weeks while an investigation was carried out into the "belief that a child may be exposed to a risk of harm".

But Ofsted wrote to parents again last week to say the nursery had done enough to have its registration reinstated.

"We conducted an announced visit to the provider and found that they had taken sufficient action..." - Ofsted

The letter said: "We conducted an announced visit to the provider and found that they had taken sufficient action to meet the Welfare Requirements Notice.

"Furthermore, we have now lifted the suspension because the provider took appropriate action to deal with the matter that led to the suspension and we are satisfied that the threshold for suspension is no longer met.

"The provider is still registered with Ofsted."

It is thought the nursery has told parents it will be re-opening on Monday.

After the inspection in September, the report praised the service for encourage children's understanding of similarities and differences around them and building sensory skills.

It was last inspected before that in March 2018 when it was rated 'good' overall.

Evolution Kids Club and Nursery, which is run independently of Grove Park Primary School, has so far declined to comment.
