Sittingbourne's Staplehurst Road closed after gas can falls from lorry

A road was cordoned off this morning after it is believed a gas canister tumbled from the back of a lorry and became wedged under a car.

The incident happened on Staplehurst Road, Sittingbourne, which was then closed off to allow police and fire crews to remove the item.

A Kent Police spokesman said: “We were called just past 11am today to a report an item had fallen off a lorry.

“The road was closed off from Sonora Fields to allow patrols and Kent Fire and Rescue Service to assess the situation. No injuries have been reported.”
