Sittingbourne pub The Vineyard changes serving policy after birthday drinker downs 26 shots in one go

A Sittingbourne pub has changed its serving policy after a complaint a man drank 26 shots in one go.
Staff served the drinks to a group of revellers celebrating a birthday at The Vineyard, in West Street.
They were taken back to a table "on the understanding they were to be shared" - but were then downed by just one man.
Operator Stonegate Pub Company said staff have now been told to check how many customers will be drinking shots when a large number is ordered.
A spokesman confirmed staff had received an online query about the incident at the weekend.

He said: "A large group of customers, while celebrating a birthday, were served lower abv (alcohol by volume) shots.
"The drinks were taken by the customers to the table on the understanding they were to be shared."
The spokesman added: "Since it has been brought to our attention that just one customer drank the shots, we have reviewed our serve policy to ensure this does not happen again.
"When large numbers of shots are ordered, we have instructed our bar staff to check how many customers are within the party and how many will be consuming the shots."
