Sittingbourne put up a brave fight before going out 3-2 to Blue Square South side Staines Town in the FA Cup second qualifying round on Saturday.

The visitors took the lead through Dominic Sterling before the striker appeared to handle Colin Richmond's free-kick in his own penalty area, only for the referee to turn down Bourne's appeal for a spot-kick.

Staines went 2-0 up on the hour when Elliot Onochie fired in, but Nick Reeves turned in Billy Manners' cross immediately after to give the home side hope.

As Bourne chased an equaliser Staines' Ali Chabaan made it 3-1 on the break. Hicham Akhazzan netted an injury-time penalty for Sittingbourne to reduce the arrears.
