Hundreds of pupils at a Kent secondary school have been told not to attend tomorrow.

Sittingbourne Community College has issued a statement on its website saying emergency work needs to be carried out.

The closure will affect pupils in years seven, eight, nine, 10 and 11.

Pupils in sixth form have been told their lessons will be taught as normal from periods one to four.

The situation has been blamed on a problem with the pipes that feed into the school's heating system.

In the statement a spokesman said: "We are very much aware that these circumstances and conditions are not ideal, but we ask for your support, patience and understanding in making this work."

The closure falls on the same day the pupils were due to break up, according to the school's website.
