Delays on M2 between Sittingbourne and Faversham after van fire

There were huge delays on the M2 after a van fire.
National Highways said there was about six miles of congestion on the coast-bound carriageway between Junction 5 at Sittingbourne and Junction 6 at Faversham at 5.50pm.
It tweeted to say an inspection of the road surface would be required.
Drivers were warned that journeys were taking an extra 35 minutes.

All lanes were reopened by 6.10pm but five miles of queues remained, said National Highways.
The tailbacks had started to ease as of 7pm.
