Residents' messages will be visually displayed at the centre of new art installation.
The work, produced by Lucid Creates, an art production company based in Iwade, will honour Medway's unsung heroes with the council encouraging people to submit stories of hope and unity.
How the art installation will look
Known as TOGETHER, it comprises three large rings suspended from four giant pillars, measuring 15 metres in height and width.
It will use video, light and sound while displaying residents' messages and stories on video screens which will move around.
The installation is a co-commission between Medway Council and Culture Liverpool and will visit locations across the UK.
Lucid Creates' director Helen Swann said: “TOGETHER was created as a reaction to the isolation of lockdown, from this we have imagined an artwork in which communities can come together to celebrate their unity.
"As Kent-based artists, we are excited to be debuting the piece in Medway – and to be able to collaborate with our community in recognising Medway's uniqueness.”
Deputy council leader Cllr Howard Doe is looking forward to the installation, which opens next Friday evening.
He said: “I am delighted this fantastic, beautiful and unique artwork will soon be on display at Chatham Riverside for residents, and visitors, to enjoy.
"TOGETHER and our exciting summer events programme are supporting Medway’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025, which will create a legacy of opportunities for residents, particularly our children and young people."
It will be on display at Chatham Riverside from September 24 to October 10.
