The line-up for the fifth Swale Film Festival has been announced on a new website- and features some familiar faces.

There will be five movies showing this year from September 5 to September 8 which organisers hope will help to promote the British film-making industry.

Highlights include Ginger and Rosa, which features a yachting scene shot in Queenborough harbour.

Elle Fanning, sister of Dakota, who starred in War of The Worlds, plays Ginger in the American-made picture.

It was directed by multiple award winner Sally Potter and will kick off the festival at Blue Town Heritage Centre, High Street, Blue Town, on Thursday, September 5 at 7.30pm.

On Friday, September 6 at 5pm there will be an opening ceremony and some local short films before an introduction to a horror night.

Low budget film The Hollow, which has been marketed as the British Blair Witch Project, will be showing at 6pm while a thriller called Airbourne will be showing at 7.45pm.

Ray Cooney’s cinematic adaptation of his own West End play, called Run For Your Wife, will be showing at Avenue Theatre, Central Avenue, Sittingbourne, on Saturday, September 7 at 7.30pm.

One of the producers, Vicki Michelle, who was an actress in ’Allo ’Allo, will be there to discuss the film.

UK comedy Wide Blue Yonder, starring Brian Cox, will round off the screenings on Sunday, September 8 at 7.45pm.

On the same day, the winners of the Kent Film Awards, a short film competition running alongside the festival, will be announced at Creek Creative, Abbey Road, Faversham.

Festival director Ken Rowles said: “The whole idea of people going to the cinema is you get a mass reaction.
“If you watch a film at home you will not get the same sort of atmosphere if you go into a cinema.”
