Taxi towed away after bursting into flames in St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne

People watched on in shock after a taxi burst into flames.

The fire service were called to blaze in St Michael’s Road, Sittingbourne, at about midday.

A white vehicle from Swale Cabs, based in West Street, was destroyed before its burnt out remains were towed away.

Mark Mattocks captured the moment the fire took hold of the vehicle.

He said: “It looks like it came from under the bonnet, an electrical fault or overheated I would assume.
