Van crashes into central reservation on M2 and Sittingbourne bound A249 causing miles of tailbacks

The A249 has ground to a halt this evening with traffic stretching back 5 to 7 miles after a van ploughed into the central barrier.

Hundreds of vehicles are currently stranded of the dual carrier on the approach to the M2 and Sittingbourne.

Emergency service have been called to the incident along with recovery contractors.

All roads on the approach as congested.

Kent Police confirmed paramedics were called to the scene but it is thought no one was seriously injured and the road has since reopened.
