Hair-raising footage has emerged of a lorry swerving across a busy A-road in heavy rain.

Motorists are seen braking suddenly to avoid crashing into the HGV on the A249 heading towards Sheppey.

The driver, who appears to have pulled up to stop in a layby, is seen merging onto the carriageway without indicating.

Twitter user Brett Hawes tweeted the footage to Kent Police.

He said: "The complete disregard for other road users and weather conditions is the shocking part!"
