A young girl from Iwade, told she may never walk or talk, is to set off on a sponsored trek to raise money for the medical teams which saved her life.
Angel Farley, who had to have her leg amputated, will trudge 10 miles from her home to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham where she receives her treatment on Wednesday.
The 11-year-old has no right hip socket or femur, has a curved and shortened femur on her left-hand side, is missing the bottom part of her spine and has a club-foot.
She was also born with a hole in the heart, which has since been fixed, and suffers with bladder and bowel problems.
Her family raised £1,100 of her £1,000 goal ahead of the walk and the cash will be shared between Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Disablement Services Centre at Medway Maritime Hospital.
And it is not the first time the brave little girl has been in the news.
In 2017 she sent hundreds of Christmas Cards to people with autism to brighten up their holidays.
Her father, Rob Farley, said: “Angel has been with Great Ormond Street Hospital for years and last February she had an amputation two days after her 10th birthday. She also had septicaemia so was on life support for a while.
“We just want to give back to them for saving our daughter’s life. We’re quite excited to do the walk with her to be honest.
“We expect it to take about five hours. We’ve planned the route and it’s just going to be an exciting day.”
Although mother Holly will join the duo, Angel’s sisters - Makayla, Tia-Leigh and Sienna - will be at home wishing them well with their grandparents.
“We’ll be taking her wheelchair with us but Angel wants to walk as much of it as possible,” Mr Farley added. “It’s quite a long walk and where my daughter is disabled we want her to be able to do as much as she wants to.
“This is going to make a big difference to the whole hospital.”
