A young girl has been praised for making two police officers’ days with a random act of kindness.

Two officers in Swale returned to their cars after a 10-hour shift to find someone had left two small bags filled with sweets, tea, hand cream and lip balm on their windscreen.

There was also a note saying: “You rock! Thank you for making a difference.”

The officers had been called into work last Monday to help colleagues dealing with an abusive and aggressive person in custody.

When they asked if anyone knew who had left the gifts, one officer mentioned he had seen a young girl walking around putting bags on the windows of police cars and ambulances.

PC Lee said: “I just wanted to make it known that she had made such a sweet gesture that really did put a smile on both our faces after such an exhausting shift.

“It was very lovely and heart-warming to see that police are appreciated by the public.”

After Kent Police posted about the kind gesture on Facebook, more than 100 people commented to praise the young girl.

One person said: “What a lovely gesture and must have been appreciated after such a long day.”

Another said: “How wonderful, the world needs more people like this.”

The girl’s mum also commented under the post: “This was my 13-year-old daughter. She makes these packages up for all NHS staff, emergency services and anyone else she feels needs one at the time.

“It's something she has done for about three years. She very much appreciates the police as she's very aware of the service provided.

“Anytime she is near the hospital she likes to go round gifting so further colleagues may get a random act of kindness from her too.”
