Police are hunting a driver who reportedly fled after hitting a teenage cyclist, sending him flying over the bonnet and into a ditch.
The 17-year-old was cycling up Basser Hill in Lower Halstow, near Sittingbourne, when a 4x4 reportedly clipped his wheel.
The impact sent him over the bonnet and into a ditch, leaving him with injuries to his hand and leg.
The vehicle did not stop and the cyclist was left to make his way to a nearby house.
He then went to hospital to be treated for his injuries, which later needed minor surgery.
The victim’s family returned to retrieve the bike the following day, but it was gone.
The crash happened at around 10.30pm on Friday, October 6, but details have only just emerged as an appeal for witnesses is launched.
Investigating officer, PC Ian Pickett, said: "The driver of the vehicle would have known they hit a person, or at least a large object that evening and the vehicle is likely to have damage to the front and the bonnet.
"We do not know the colour of the vehicle only that it was a 4x4-type and that it was driving with its main beam on.
"I’d like to appeal to anyone who may know who was involved in this incident and I’d also like to appeal to the driver to encourage them to come forward."
