A MAN believed to have been armed with a knife entered a bookmakers and demanded money from two members of staff.
Police are appealing for information after the incident at Coral Bookmakers in East Street, Sittingbourne, on Monday at about 4.50pm.
Staff handed the robber a quantity of cash and he grabbed additional money from the till.
He then left the premises and got into a dark-coloured saloon car parked nearby. The vehicle was seen to leave the area heading in the direction of Canterbury.
Nobody was hurt in the incident. It is believed around £1,000 was taken although this amount has yet to be confirmed.
The man is described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build. He was wearing a hooded top which was blue on the body and back but with white sleeves and shoulders. The hood was white with a thick blue 4-inch stripe down the middle.
He was also wearing charcoal grey tracksuit bottoms and sandy coloured ankle boots.
The man wore a white scarf around his face during the robbery.
Det Ch Insp Maria Shepherd said: "I would urge anyone who was in the East Street area at the time of the robbery to contact us. They may have seen something that could be a vital piece of information to the investigation. We want to catch this man as soon as possible."
