ASDA has unveiled plans to improve its store in Sittingbourne.
The plans include a small extension to the front of the store alongside a new mezzanine level in the store so it can provide a wider selection of food and non-food goods including George clothing as well as a new in-store restaurant.
It’s hoped the changes will create 35 new jobs.
There would also be a complete internal refit of the store with more checkouts and wider aisles and additional improvements will be made to the car park, making it easier for customers to use and creating around 30 more spaces.
Improvements would also be made to both vehicle and pedestrian access roads to the store, as well as upgrades to the store’s service yard and warehouse.
The plans will shortly be submitted to Swale council and if planning permission is granted the store will remain open throughout the improvement process.
Customers and nearby residents can view the plans which go on public display at the store in Mill Way this Friday and Saturday.
Chris Marlow, property communications manager for ASDA, said: "The store has become an established and popular supermarket for local people in the area, and we want to continue to offer the low prices, choice, quality, service and convenience that our customers have come to expect.
"Importantly, in this time of financial uncertainty, our proposals will create up to 35 new jobs for local people.
"We hope that people can visit the store to view the plans, and we look forward to receiving their feedback."
