Bail extended for murder suspect

by Hayley Robinson

A Sittingbourne man arrested on suspicion of a double murder has had his bail extended.

The 35-year-old was arrested on February 3 by Met Police officers investigating the killings of
Jordan Jackson and Leyla
Djemal-Northcott.

He was taken to a south London police station for questioning before being released on bail until May 5.

His bail has since been extended until late July.

Jordan and Leyla were killed when masked men entered a flat in Menlo Gardens, Upper Norwood, south London, on the morning of March 7, 2006, and fired at least six shots.

Jordan’s brother Keiran
Jackson, who was also at the flat, was shot but recovered.

Police believe Jordan and his brother may have been targeted by the men.

Leyla is thought to have been an innocent bystander and was shot while she lay in bed.

The Metropolitan Police Service is offering a reward of up to £20,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the murderers.

A 37-year-old woman, arrested in Clapham, and 31-year-old woman, arrested in Croydon, on suspicion of conspiracy to murder have been released without charge.
