A table-top sale was the first event to be organised by the new owners of a hall. Kemsley Community Centre Trust held the event.
The Ridham Avenue site was originally run by Swale council but was transferred to the trust committee on a 125-year lease when cabinet members met on March 12.
There were about 30 stalls selling all sorts of goods including books, handmade jewellery, clothes and cakes.
Sellers paid £7 for a table in advance or £10 on the day but kept all proceeds from the items they sold.
In all about 100 people made their way through the doors. Samantha Bryant, who is a member of the trust, said: “It went really well.
“It was the first of its kind but there will be plenty more to follow.” The next event is an open day on Monday, May 5 from 10am to 4pm.
There will be bouncy castles, creepy crawlies, refreshments from Kemsley school’s PTA, entertainment from choirs and dance schools, a demonstration from Swale Gloves amateur boxing club, ice cream, art tent, face painting, an assault course, barbecue and lots more.
