A little boy obsessed with bin men and refuse trucks had his birthday wishes come true.
William-Terence Brinkley from Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, woke up on his fourth birthday with Biffa’s shiny new electric bin lorry parked up outside his house.
The Milton Court primary pupil, nicknamed Biffa Bill, became a fan of the waste management company during lockdown, when he started waving at his local bin crew.
His mum, Caitlin Crayford-Baker said: "William has always sat and played with bin man toys, he has ASD, traits of autism and possibly ADHD but bin men and lorries help get through to him."
The 27-year-old put a plea out on Facebook explaining her son's love for bin men, saying he didn't want a bouncy castle for his special day on Monday, February 14, but instead a bin man at his door.
A friend, whose uncle works for Biffa saw the post, and it snowballed from there.
Caitlin said: "When they turned up in the morning he had no clue.
"The house went dark because the bin lorry, with refuse collector Lee Beresford and operations manager Jenna Hammon on board, had driven infront of the windows.
“They knocked the door and asked for the birthday boy.
"He just kept saying ‘For me? For me?’ he couldn’t believe it.
“They gave him lots of Biffa presents and a high-vis Biffa top with his name on which he wears everywhere."
William was shown around the truck and even got to speak to the bin man, but his favourite part was sitting in the front touching all the buttons and beeping the horn.
His mum finished: “They made him feel very very special. He went to bed with a big smile on his face.
“With everything he's been through it's just something I never thought I was going to be able to get for him.
"I'm so thankful for all of them, I don't think they realise what an impact is had for us."
William, who also lives with dad Bill, 26, and sisters Tillianna Rose, seven, and Priscilla May, six, said he wants to be a refuse collector when he’s older.
Jenna Hammon said: “We’re a big part of the community here, so when you get the call to send a refuse truck to make a little boy’s birthday, you do!
“I’m so glad we were able to make it a really special day for a special little boy.”
