THE family of a motorcylist killed when he was in collision with a car thought to be travelling in the wrong direction have spoken of his zest for life and love of music.

Michael Pedley's machine collided with a Rover Metro on the Thanet Way at Chislet, near Herne Bay, at around 6.30pm on April 25.

Mr Pedley, 37, lived in High Street, Sittingbourne. The car driver was an 86-year-old woman from Herne Bay.

In a moving tribute, Mr Pedley's father Stuart, said: “Mick was such a bubbly, lively and nutty character. He was always laughing, always late and always larger than life. He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him.

“He had two small children he absolutely adored and who miss him greatly, as will the rest of his family and many friends. He was always so generous and willing to help anyone who needed him. He was a shining star.

“Mick was very much into his music and was due to be doing a DJ slot at Moo Moos, 110 Week Street in Maidstone, which will now be turned into a tribute night.

"This will be held on June 9 and will start at 8.30pm until late. Everyone who knew and loved Mick is welcome to go along."

Mr Pedley added: "It seems impossible to come to terms with our loss.”

Police are investigating how the car driver could have got access to the wrong side of the road. Thanet police spokesman Dougall Bell said it was too early to say if the woman would be charged with any offences.
