Huge plumes of black smoke sent billowing over a retail park were the result of a rubbish fire.

Firefighters attended a blaze this afternoon as a quantity of rubbish and building materials were found alight near Sittingbourne Retail Park.

One engine was sent to Laburnum Place, Sittingbourne at 1.11pm where crews discovered the items were on fire.

No injuries have been reported.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire in around 20 minutes leaving the scene at 1.32pm.
