Three townspeople have been recognised for their commitment as blood donors.
Anthony Deacon, 64, of Chatsworth Drive, Andrew Shilling, 59, of Canberra Gardens and Malcolm Jeffery, 63, of Harold Road, presented with crystal awards at the Hilton Hotel in London.
They were among 34 donors honoured during the ceremony organised by NHS Blood and Transplant.
Its lead donor relations manager for the south east, John Canning, said: “It’s wonderful that we can call on people who have dedicated themselves to giving blood over so many years, performing a life-saving role for no reward, other than the knowledge that they are helping others.
“I hope these donors inspire existing donors to keep giving regularly and also encourage new donors to sign up to start their blood donation journey.”
Anyone aged between 17 and 65, weighing more than 7st 12lbs and in general good health can become a blood donor.
