Burger lovers will not have long to wait for Wimpy to re-open in Sittingbourne with the restaurant due to open its doors in the High Street next week.
A new 100-seater restaurant in the centre of the town will be unveiled on Monday under the stewardship of new franchisee Adnan Etemi and his team.
Sittingbourne’s previous Wimpy closed in 2011 and the relaunch in a new location has created 10 jobs, including waiters and chefs.
Mr Etemi said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be back in town, Sittingbourne has huge potential and we can’t wait to introduce customers to our many favourite dishes, such as our famous Wimpy burgers with British beef and the much-loved knickerbocker glory.
“Everyone in the Wimpy team has been extremely helpful and encouraging throughout the process and we can’t wait to get on with what we do best, which is serving people.”
Mr Etemi who also has two other Wimpy restaurants at Chatham Docks and Westcliff-on-Sea in Essex, has invested nearly £200,000 in the new venture.
The newly fitted-out restaurant features bright new colours, furnishings and uniforms.
“We are delighted that Wimpy has finally been able to return to Sittingbourne." - Chris Woolfenden
Chris Woolfenden, general manager of Wimpy UK, said: “We are delighted that Wimpy has finally been able to return to Sittingbourne. Generations of local families will have grown up here enjoying a Wimpy burger and we are just thrilled that they will once again have the opportunity to do so.
“We know from his successes with his two other restaurants, that Adnan and his team will do a fantastic job and we wish him all the very best.”
Mr Etemi, who has worked in a variety of different pubs and restaurants, says he hopes to add more Wimpy restaurants to his portfolio in the future.
