CCTV footage recorded at a victim's home has helped put two burglars behind bars.
Jason Bowers and Jack Lee targeted the property in Lower Halstow, near Sittingbourne, last month – but security cameras caught one of them and the car they used to drive away.
Both men pleaded guilty to their roles and were sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday.
The court heard that on Saturday, June 16, the victim returned to their home, after spending the day out with their family, to find their kitchen drawers had been opened and various items were out of place.
After checking through their house and shed, it became apparent they had been burgled and police were called.
Officers attended to gather evidence and were provided with CCTV stills that clearly captured the side of Lee's head.
A silver Ford Focus estate was also recorded driving away.
Officers then went to an address Lee was known to regularly visit and found the suspect car nearby.
While there, Bowers and Lee began walking towards the car. The men were arrested and searched, and the key to the car was found on Bowers.
The 46-year-old, of no fixed address, was sentenced to three years and 10 months for two counts of burglary, driving while disqualified and driving without third party insurance.
Lee, 48, also of no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and seven months for two counts of burglary.
Investigating officer, police constable Mike Wills, said: "Bowers and Lee have proved they are incapable of living in society without committing crimes against innocent members of the public.
"There is no good reason to burgle another person's home. It is a deeply intrusive offence and, as was evident in this case, can leave victims feeling uneasy in their own homes.
"The custodial sentences passed by the judge only goes to illustrate the view of the courts in these offences.
"I am very happy to have achieved justice for the victims in this case and in particular the short period of time between the offence and sentence.
"Hopefully the family can move forward knowing the offenders are in prison and I thank them for their assistance during the investigation."
