Sheerness line flooded after water mains burst near Kemsley

A burst water main shut a busy railway line.

It leak happened at around 4.25pm near Kemsley, with the Sheerness line shut as a result.

Despite the water having been shut off, the line remains flooded.

Police were in attendance, and replacement bus services were put in place.

Southeastern officials say there is no damage to the tracks but the rail bridge is still being checked.

The line reopened at 9.25pm.

A tweet from Southeastern earlier said: "Due to a burst water main flooding the railway at #Kemsley services on the Sheerness line are currently disrupted.

"Buses are being sourced to assist with onward travel."

The train operator also posted a video to show the extend of the leak.
