Emergency services were called to the A249 Maidstone-bound carriageway in the early hours of this morning after a car burst into flames.

Police and a Sittingbourne fire crew attended the incident at the traffic lights just before the Stockbury roundabout at around 4.15am.

A police spokesman said: “Highways crews were called to remove debris.

“We left the scene at 5.30am.”

The driver of the vehicle is not thought to have been injured.
