A car has been abandoned after it ended up on its roof as a result of the Beast from the East.

A picture, taken at about midday today, shows the red Ford Focus lying in the snow next to Wises Lane in Borden, Sittingbourne.

There was no sign of other cars nearby and fresh snow had almost covered surrounding tyre tracks, suggesting it had been left after a crash yesterday.

It comes after temperatures in Kent dropped as low as -11C and parts of the county were blanketed in snow - causing major problems on the roads as drivers tried to navigate treacherous conditions.

It is not yet known how the car ended up on its roof or if anyone was injured.

Kent Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
