A car had to be rescued after attempting to drive around a bin lorry on a country lane.

Emergency services were called to Ruins Barn Road in Sittingbourne this morning.

An image shows the white Smart car trapped between the bin lorry and a grassy bank.

Firefighters and police were sent to the incident at around 9am.

A spokeswoman from Kent Fire and Rescue said: “All people involved were out of the vehicles on arrival and crews supported officers in making the road safe.”

There were no reported injuries.
