Relatives of murdered Sittingbourne man Carl Davies attended a football match in memory of him.
Dad Andy and sister Kerrie Stewart accompanied by her husband Joe, made their way to Chatham Town FC’s ground on Sunday to watch the league cup final between the Stumble Inn and Oak Athletic.
It was arranged by the 33-year-old’s teammates to keep his memory alive.
The former Royal Marine, who lived in Harrier Drive, Sittingbourne, was killed on the French-administered Indian Ocean island of Reunion on November 9, 2011.
He was working as a security guard on a ship which had berthed there but had previously worked as a senior teacher at Sittingbourne Community College and the Isle of Sheppey Academy.
Ahead of the game the players walked on to the pitch wearing T-shirts bearing the words Justice for Carl, the name of the campaign started shortly after his death, and carrying his picture.
The final score was 2-1 to Stumble Inn.
The pub, in Chalkwell Road, Sittingbourne, hosted a barbecue and bouncy castle after the match.
Ben Hollis, 37, who has just resigned from his post as manager of Stumble Inn FC, said: “It went brilliantly, really good.
“We wanted to show people we haven’t forgotten him.”
Four people were charged in connection with the 33-year-old’s death in 2013 but the court case has yet to be heard.
