Our charity of the year – Swale Action to End Domestic Abuse (Sateda) – has received a badge of honour at an awards ceremony staged by the KM Charity Team.
It was one of a select group of good causes to be highly commended as inaugural recipient of the KM Charity Mark award in recognition of its work in the community.
The accolade was presented at the KM Charity Team Forum at Kent Scouts HQ, Lower Grange Farm in Maidstone.
The forum also brought together causes from across the county for targeted workshops on topics including fundraising, grant applications, insurance, accountancy and top tips for applications to be KM Charity of the Year 2016.
Sessions were hosted by expert speakers from MHA MacIntyre Hudson, Jelf Insurance and Funding for All.
Delegates included school staff, governors and PTA members for a KM Walk to School masterclass as well as guidance on initiatives involving green travel, road safety, pupil voice and literacy.
Simon Dolby, of the KM Charity Team, said: “I am delighted to reveal the winners of the new KM Charity Mark awards and commend the causes for their tireless efforts.
“It was no easy task but we have selected what we believe are 50 of the very best charities in the county to receive this special honour.”

Good causes can attempt a hat-trick by applying for KM Charity of the Year 2016 while there’s still time.
The winner will receive 12 months of support in print, on kmfm radio and on KentOnline, which attracts 1.9m unique browsers each month.
In addition KentOnline and KMTV will choose a separate cause each to champion throughout 2016.
Mr Dolby added: "Time is running out to apply for this wonderful opportunity to dramatically raise your profile, improve fundraising opportunities and attract a whole new audience of supporters.
“This year, the winning charity will also receive a promotional video trumpeting their work filmed by KMTV contributors. The video can be used on the cause’s website, e-newsletters and social media.”
