Life Nightclub in Sittingbourne, could have licence removed due to crime and disorder

A nightclub could lose its licence after police raised concerns about a number of incidents there.

The force has requested a review of Life in Sittingbourne High Street after fears over crime and disorder, public safety and children being exposed to crime.

The application, which was submitted to Swale council on Tuesday, comes after officers appealed for help identifying a group involved in a fight outside the premises on New Year's Day.

A public notice, which is displayed outside the nightclub, explains the review: "Follows multiple recent incidents at the premises which have identified premises failings and raised concerns.

"Also a breach of premises licence conditions."

A spokesman for Swale Council said: “Kent Police have requested a licence review for Life nightclub in Sittingbourne.

“The review will be heard at the licensing sub-committee meeting planned for the end of April and people can comment in writing to Swale Council until Tuesday, 5 April.”

"Best thing for it," said one post, while another declared: "Place is a dump anyway..about time it got closed down."

Another poster added: "It should of (sic) been shut down ages ago."

There was limited support for the venue, mostly from people who had not been there in a number of years.

One said: "Used to be alright when it was vogue and legends."

Another added: "It's not down to the place you go it's who you go with. I been to life with really good friends and had a fantastic night."
