A former parish council clerk is facing sentence after admitting stealing thousands of pounds from village funds.
Sarah George faced two charges of fraud at Iwade and Newington Parish Council.
It is claimed that from January 1 to December 31 last year she stole more than £50,000.
The charge stated she abused her position by falsifying invoices and writing out cheques to herself.
Tony Ventham, defending, told Maidstone Crown Court the figures involved were still being clarified but the end amount was likely to be in the £30-40,000 bracket.
Mr Ventham said there would be a number of character witnesses and others wanted to support her in court.
George, 41, of Woodpecker Drive, Iwade, was granted unconditional bail.
Judge Charles Macdonald QC said: “My provisional view is the defendant is at risk of custody.
"No doubt, the judge will consider suspension if the material is there.”
